Sanctuary warden alarm system

Good afternoon. I want to ask a question if I may. I have a Sanctuary warden alarm hardwired system in my property and I'm with Sky at the moment full fiber with a live phone line but Plusnet doesn't come with a live land line connection so I'm a bit concerned that my warden alarm box won't work when my land line is disconnected.

To be honest I never used my land line phone, never used it for last few years when I went full fiber . Anyone else use a sanctuary warden alarm that uses Plusnet with a disconnected phone line? I am getting Full Fibre 145
Plusnet Hub Two FTTP

Thanks

Re: Sanctuary warden alarm system

@New_ff2025 Welcome to the forum. To be honest, if you are thinking of moving to Plusnet, you are better asking the alarm provider if they have a suitable alarm which works without a hardwired PSTN connection. They will have to have such a facility when the PSTN system is closed, anyway, irrespective of whom your ISP/Communications provider is.

The current expected switch off time for the 'old' phone system is December next year.

Re: Sanctuary warden alarm system

Thanks for your reply. I have emailed sanctuary but haven't got a response. I guess I'll just have to wait to see if my warden alarm still works without an active landline.
I know I have a 2 week cooling off period so if it doesn't work I'll cancel Plusnet

Re: Sanctuary warden alarm system

A word of warning, that 'two weeks' is from Plusnet acknowledging and accepting  your order.

@New_ff2025

I’m surprised that Plusnet have accepted an order from you. Did you tell them that you have an alarm when you signed up? Previously I have read of such orders being directed to BT.

Re: Sanctuary warden alarm system

Hi, no I didn't tell them I had a alarm system when I joined. I think I'm just going to cancel Plusnet and go back with Sky. I don't need the stress 😔. I'm waiting for a reply from twitter from Plusnet about this

Re: Sanctuary warden alarm system

Hey @New_ff2025

We no longer offer live chat support online; it could take some time, as we have a large number of messages to respond to. Once you find out if the Sanctuary alarm is compatible with VOIP, it may be best to explore EE, which can provide FTTP and VOIP services. Alternatively, if you decide to stay with us, consider looking into the possibility of finding a VOIP provider.

There is no live chat, it is phone, these forums or snail mail only.

Re: Sanctuary warden alarm system

Thank you for your reply. Sky uses voIP which I'm using at the moment. Plusnet doesn't use voIP. I don't want to spend more on VOIP services as by the time all the costs are added I may as well stay with sky

Re: Sanctuary warden alarm system

@New_ff2025

Can you confirm you are currently on a VOIP service from Sky and that your copper landline is no longer in use?

If so, you know Santuary Warden alarm systems work with VOIP so it would just be a case of finding a VOIP provider and transferring your number.

If you don't use VOIP for anything else you could set up an account with the likes of A&A with a generic number. Once running you would simply change the settings in your alarm system to the new number.

Or am I missing something?

Yes I'm using a VOIP service with sky at the moment. I got a new ONT box put in a year ago.
I don't use my landline phone at all but I have the base left in just in case I need it on for sanctuary warden alarm system to work but I'm not sure if the warden alarm system needs an active landline as I think the alarm box uses a SIM card . I have a Tynetec Advent XT
