Is this a BT socket?

I'm not sure how to attach a photo onto here but it's on my profile. I'm trying to set up a new WiFi plan but unsure on whether I have a BT socket. Many thanks for your help.

Re: Is this a BT socket?

@jessjhome I can't see it on your profile, but so long as you are are using a desktop/laptop, to attach a photo,  click the 'paper-clip' at left under the 'reply' box and follow the prompts.

Re: Is this a BT socket?

It isnt a BT socket. At least one of the sockets looks like a network (ethernet) connection

Re: Is this a BT socket?

@jessjhome

I have approved the two photos on your profile.

What you are looking at is

My Mother In Laws have something similar in her house, the picture with the TV and Satellite points, phone socket would be from the days the a Sky Box required a phone connection, the other image looks to be to be the double phone socket.

But, somewhere there should be a Openreach Master Socket, more information needs to be know about that. At a guess there is a TV Aerial distribution system or amplifier, the master socket might be close to that.

Edit: a second look, they could be Network ports.

@jessjhome

The obvious check would be to slide the cover up and see what is there.

Hopefully you can see the socket shape.

Re: Is this a BT socket?

Neither is a BT Master Socket.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that the property is nicely wired for everything else. The first image is a pair of Ethernet sockets, are there others spread around the property? The second is a combination of a Terrestrial TV aerial, Satellite Dish aerial, Sound distribution to other rooms (again, are there other matching outlets in other rooms) and an Ethernet socket, probably connected to one of the pair in your first image.

Edit

Looking again, the trio of 3 are marked TV, i.e Terrestrial aerial, FM. i.e. radio aerial. Could the single co-ax be cable TV, it looks like it's big enough to have some sort of shielding/terminator in the back box?

Re: Is this a BT socket?

The first image does look like 2 network point.
The second image, socket on the left could be a telephone socket, also a master. As per this

Seen then in pre-wired properties

Re: Is this a BT socket?

I know this is a silly question, @jessjhome , but do you have a current broadband service, with or without a phone, and if so, how is it connected?

Re: Is this a BT socket?

My guess is that the left hand socket is an RJ11 (not RJ45) and has a phone connection. If you can find a phone with the right lead, plug it in and see if it seems "live".

It looks like a nicely provisioned block of flats with a communal TV and satellite installation.

The TV/FM is possibly a "Triplexer" and perhaps the top socket is for DAB or satellite (satellite boxes often need 2 connections).

These things can be a bit of a mystery!

Re: Is this a BT socket?

@jessjhome

There is information about phone sockets in the following two links. As already stated, there will probably be a Master Socket somewhere in the property.
