@ot2025

KCI3

Informs a CP that the order has been completed by Openreach’s fulfilment systems, which means that the order requested by the CP has been actioned and no further tasks remain outstanding

Remember PN is the customer of OR, not you.

Re: How long does it take to get set up?

@ot2025

An earlier message says "Email to confirm Provide order has completed (KCI3) has not been received by CCD +1 day."

As @bmc says, the KCI3 is an automated message from the Openreach systems to inform Plusnet that the service provision is complete. When received, this automatically activates your Plusnet account. It sounds like the order is 'stuck' in OR's systems, its completed in one part of the system but not triggered the sending of the KCI3.

What type of connection were you eventually able to order ? was it Full fibre (FTTP) or just normal Fibre (FTTC) ?

Re: How long does it take to get set up?

Hi @MisterW

Sadly I could only order normal fibre. The advice from Plusnet Support was to get this done then attempt to start the upgrade process. Since there is FTTP very close by, this should be possible at some point, but it isn't possible to order it at present.

I'm hoping that when I reach the "review date" of 1/7/25, I'll be closer to getting some kind of working broadband.

@ot2025  is the router connected to the master socket  ? What colour is the router led  and is it steady or flashing ?

Re: How long does it take to get set up?

@ot2025

On the June 26th, the "Openreach" engineer (actually "Kelly Communications on behalf of Openreach") arrived, did some stuff and plugged the router in.  "It should be working this afternoon", he said.  It wasn't

Well I don't know what the engineer did, but he/she didn't do a very good job!.

A flashing orange indicates that there is no VDSL sync, which means the connection to the local cabinet isn't correct. How he/she though it would magically start working by itself is beyond me!  They SHOULD have tested by plugging the router in at the time and checking that they at least had a solid orange/red light.

Is your master socket the later type with two ports , a DSL one and a phone one ?

Re: How long does it take to get set up?

@MisterW Well, that’s how the engineer left it - switched on and happily flashing orange.
He changed the master socket - or at least the front of it - changing it from one with a single socket to one with two.
He also did some tinkering up the road - leaving a small device with blinking lights connected to the cables behind the faceplate while he was temporarily away. I suspect he was checking for continuity but I’m definitely not a telecoms engineer, so that’s just a guess.

Oh dear! Doesnt sound like he connected up correctly to the Fibre cabinet! Well its certainly not going to fix itself without another Openreach engineer doing the job properly...

Re: How long does it take to get set up?

Well, it's not looking good.

I still have an activation date of June 27th, but the latest update from support is identical to the one I received then. Just the dates have changed.

Last week, the note said "Unfortunately, there has been a delay with your order due to an issue with our suppliers. We are working with them to get this resolved as soon as possible and we will give you an update once we have more information.

We have a review date of 01/07/2025 so we will be in touch with you on this date to update you on the progress."

The new review date is now 05/07/2025.  Since that date is a Saturday, I find it slightly implausible that anything will be happening then. No further information and no indication of when I will actually have a working connection.

Presumably I will at least get compensation for the failure to meet the committed date for activation?
