I had my FTTP installed today, and am unhappy with the aesthetics of the install (see pictures). The ONT had to be installed in the study at the side of the house due to space, power and availability of ethernet sockets to the house network. The existing ducting comes up in the porch, so a fibre cable has been tacked through the porch and around the front of the house to the study. While I can accept the low level cable across the front (it’s mainly hidden by plants) the route through the porch looks terrible. In addition, I think it could easily be damaged. I’m not sure if there any options to have this improved?
One slight hope is that the installation couldn’t be completed due to the duct being covered by the porch floor tiles. I’m wondering if they could install a second duct to take the cable out of the porch when they lift the tiles to get to the existing duct?
I’m very disappointed with this install I never have cables exposed and always have a neat installation of any additional cables, I dont want my property looking like its wrapped in random cables.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

@PAUL_THOMAS1964 welcome to the community.
It is possible to complain directly to Openreach regards workmanship.
See link:- https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/when-to-get-in-touch-with-openreach/complaints-policy
Problem with Fibre cable it is not very flexible, it does not have a tight bend radius, care has to be taken not to fracture or distort the glass fibre.

Openreach (not a contractor) came out and were very helpful. As the existing copper cable was cemented into the porch, they patched into the existing duct by the house, and moved the fibre pint a few feet out of the porch. I’ve now got a much neater install, which shouldn’t get damaged easily.

For others it would be hand to know, did you use my posted link to Openreach or contact plusnet support to resolve your issue?

I didnt use the complaints link, I thought I’d see what the openreach engineer thought first.
They sent a pre-ciivels engineer, who assessed the incomplete install, and agreed with me a better way to route the cable.
Thanks for your help on this.
