Activation date in 2 weeks and left without wifi

I have recently moved into a flat (I'm a student) and had issues trying to switch services. I ended up not moving my previous provider to the new place and have been left with no wifi as a result. I have ordered from plusnet now but it won't active for another two weeks. Is there any chance plusnet will be able to try speed up the activation date for me, so I'm not left without wifi for as long?

Can't you just use an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi?

Oh hang on, you mean you've no Internet connection!

Short answer: no. The chosen install date will have come from Openreach for it to complete the installation, and there’s no rushing that. You’d receive any necessary equipment (router) from PlusNet shortly beforehand, and you’ll already know if your installation means you’re expecting an Openreach engineer to turn up at your new place.

For interim service: You would have to look at something like a mobile hotspot or a cellphone’s own hotspot. If you borrow a cellular WiFi hotspot, you could get a pay-as-you-go SIM and only pay for a month of, er, ‘WiFi’.

Or chat to your new neighbours (!) and see if they might lend you a WiFi password for a couple of weeks in return for a couple of bottles of wine.
