What happens if I move house or are made homeless?

Just to clarify, I am currently not (yet) a plusnet customer. I am likely to be moving house within the next 2 years. What happens to a 2 year contract under these two circumstances:

- I move to a house that already has an internet provider that can't be changed

- I am made homeless

I've read the documentation, which explains that I can pay a moving house fee to bring the contract with me or start a new contract. Have I missed any more information?

(1) If you move home, unless it is a shared property, the contract which existed there will cease when the current occupants move, so you can choose your own supplier.

(2) You would need to seek advice from a qualified organisation, but I imagine you would initially be liable for Early Termination Charges.

I believe the first scenario is probably referring to moving into a house where the existing occupants arent leaving and they already have ISP.

Not saying this is OP scenario but thinking out loud a person living away from home (maybe work secondment) takes out 2yr broadband at rented property and then returns home less than 2yrs later where broadband already in place?

In which case, they are unfortunately going to br subject to ETC's unless they arrange a house move. Without more detail from the OP, we are speculating.

I always advise folks not to take out a 24 month ISP / Sky TV contract if you have a rental agreement that is shorter than this or you have a temp / contract work situation that takes you from pillar to post at short notice.

With the new Renters' Right Act I can see that will be an issue more frequently.
