What happens if I don't renew my account

I am shortly up for broadband renewal but am considering alternates (satellite) as I can't get Full Fibre and Openreach have no plans at present to do or street (giving a lame excuse).  Will I still remain connected and at what price/speeds?

You will still remain connected - but at the 'out-of-contract' price advised in your account. If you do go for the satellite option, be aware that you will need to cancel your PN  account manually, as I doubt the supplier will be signed up to OTS.

@Brookebag

Unless you give notification to PN to terminate your account you continue to receive internet but will be moved onto the out of contract price. You can see this on your Members page if you login.

@Brookebag

With a copper delivered broadband service, the out of contract price might be considerably more than the in contract price (people have been surprised by that).

I assume you are somewhere fairly rural and there are no alternatives to Openreach copper other than Starkink or similar.

I am the satisfied customer....

If the OP has a phone service, could the " We're going to move you to EE" communication still be a consideration?

Re: What happens if I don't renew my account

Not rural at all.  In a small town that has been largely upgraded to full fibre but not our street.  There is overhead full fibre and Openreach actually dug up adjacent streets and laid ducting for full fibre.  This was in early COVID times.. I immediately signed up expressing interest as soon as I saw what they were doing and I am sure it said they expected 3rd or 4th quarter of 2020 for our street.  I think that the rollout probably went slower than expected due to COVID so eventually they just moved on.  After a couple of years I wrote to my MP who contacted (actually an assistant did it) Openreach.  They were happy to tell me how much they were spending on other people but due to no underground duct up our street it wasn't commercially viable.  This wasn't the case apparently to the next street (same demographic) which is the lame excuse i mentioned.  The openreach site still shows no plans for my address after 6 years.

p.s. I can't find the out-of -contract price anywhere on the membership details.

@Brookebag What are Plusnet currently supplying? Is it FTTC? What kind of speed are you currently getting?

Someone with a current contract should be able to point you in the right direction - as I'm no longer a PN customer, I can't as my Member Centre is a little different.

Re: What happens if I don't renew my account

@jab1  I'm currently FTTC too, but I can't see any out of contract prices on the Member's pages. I'm just told how much I'm currently paying & how long I have to go with my current contract. I'm not told what I would pay after that. I think you are only told the out of contract price when you receive the email from Plusnet close to when your contract is nearly up.

Oh, sorry! That's for Out of Contract Activation.

Best I can do, from my Bills (when I was last Out of Contract on FTTC), about double contract at £54.70 pm

OK, @RadioFox . It certainly was there (somewhere) when i was a subscriber, but that was 5 years ago, and I know things have been 'improved'😁 since then, so maybe it is no longer shown.

No - I am a current PN subscriber and I can't find an explicit out of contract price.  However looking at my bills I see there is a "discount" that takes £7 off my prices of £31.99 to give the £24.99 that I am contracted for so I assume my out of contract price would be £31.99 + 2x£4 annual increases giving £39.99 when my 24 month contract expires...  so about 60% more than the contract price I signed up for... if I understood my bill correctly.

Re: What happens if I don't renew my account

@Brookebag

My apologies - I thought it was shown. However I've just had a look at my account and can't find it anywhere.

The only other suggestion I have is for you to phone the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 and ask.

Whatever happens something has to change - reasonably soon. PN are actively moving customers off their phone service so you will be required to either recontract (without a phone service, move to EE (under ontract) to keep internet and phone or move to a PN service (under contract) with no phone.
