A concern might be what EE would want come a new contract - at least the same as a new (slowest fibre + phone) customer which is £33/37/41 through the contract, or £35/£39/£43 for BT
Why is that a concern? If the renewal price is uncompetitive you are free to move your data and phone custom elsewhere.
In 'normal' circumstances this was true, as it pertains to an everyday CP/ISP contract. However, at present, because of the 'special' circumstances due to the demise of the landline phone service - and there being two incompatible types of replacement home telephone service available (everyday VoIP and BT's Digital Voice) - it complicates the matter.
As I understand it, transfer of service from Plusnet to EE is simple and easy, but it is a transfer to BT's proprietary Digital Voice telephone service, provided under the EE brand.

It is the phone number that is portable, not the technology used in utilising the number. The fact that BT group do not use the industry standard VoIP protocol is totally irrelevant if you wish to port the number to a different company.

That's good to know! Well, it is for those interested in such transfers. 😊
I thought I had read somewhere else on here their could be possible problems transferring an IP based phone service from a Digital Voice to a standard VoIP service.

I have also read that pure speculation. If you think about it this is nonsense.
