Re: Static IP

@SaintG3 Plusnet stopped issuing static IP addresses a couple of years ago or more, so no longer available. Other ISPs may still do them but many charge several pounds a month, Plusnet was a £5 one off charge.

Re: Static IP

@SaintG3

Plusnet stopped allocating static IPs around December 2024.

Your alternatives are -

  • Use a DDNS service to map your domain name to a changing dynamic address
  • Run an L2TP service from another provider that does allocate static IP (such as A&A L2TP) on your Plusnet network
  • Change ISP, many still offer static IP
  • Add a free 6in4 IPv6 tunnel on your Plusnet connection and only use IPv6 for the service you need a static address for

Re: Static IP

@SaintG3

I think the first thing I would do is find out how dynamic the Plusnet IP addresses are.

Perhaps run a Think Broadband monitor or set up the free account on Uptime Robot.

If it changes more often than you might wish, Draytek routers can use Draytek's (free) DDNS "matcher" service.
