Re: Static IP no longer available?

I sincerely doubt it - it belongs to ZEN, and I suspect it has been theirs for a number of years.

However, I Shall leave to others to convince you of your misconceptions - I have other things to do.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

Plusnet staff can check my account "jsamuel"

I also posted on the forum with that account, and my IP should display as the same.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

I'm assuming you're a moderator of the forums.

I also posted on my old Plusnet account - my IP should be this.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

I am not a moderator - in fact PN are not my ISP.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

I find it absolutely crazy that Plusnet can't reactivate a Static IP when it is already saved in the Openreach system!

Re: Static IP no longer available?

For obvious reasons I can't post what the IP address was, IP address information is stored for a limited period as per our data retention policy but I can 100% confirm that IP address has never been a Plusnet IP address.

If you had the same rDNS record configured on your old Plusnet IP address then yes absolutely they could be the same but the same but the IP address isn't.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

If you need some proof tell me what to do. I perhaps still have the email Plusnet sent me when I requested a Static IP

Re: Static IP no longer available?

I must concur you looked at the rDNS and it was the same, but due to your data policies you can't explain. I understand how infuriating this can be.

IF  you have it, check it - I can 100% assure you it won't be the one you have posted.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

Lol I know what my IP address was. My DNS records haven't been updated for a while.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

OK - but you still can't, or won't, prove it.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

Let's get to the root of the issue.

When Plusnet provides someone with a static IP it goes through the Openreach network.

This is then set permanently for the household, postcode.

If someone decides to move to another provider on the Openreach network, this provider will give you the same IP.

Totally, and utterly wrong. I don't know where you got that idea from.

Re: Static IP no longer available?

Your static IP is definitely not assigned to the physical address in open reach, your IP address is actually on ISP side which is plusnet.

Of course traffic goes through the open reach network but your IP address is being managed and assigned by PN not open reach.
