Static /29 IP block and upgrading to Full Fibre

Full Fibre is finally available to be ordered for my line.... Woohooo

However, I have a fully utilised /29 IP block on my account. Would a kind staffer please confirm that if I upgrade from my current fibre package to full fibre this IP allocation will be transferred over? This is a show stopper for me, so if it can't be transferred over I will not be upgrading.

Many thanks.

@shamus

As I understand things the Static IP is associated with your account and not the product. If you upgrade you shoud not notice any difference to your IP address. Just keep an eye on it after the upgrade and if there's a problem complain ASAP.

Note that if you still have a landline you'll need to change product later this year anyway.

Thanks for the reply Brian.

However, just for my own peace of mind, I would really like some input from a Plusnet staffer before I commit to upgrading.

Thanks again.

Fix

Hey @shamus,

Upgrading to a different product should not impact your static IP. However, there have been instances in the past where the static IP was not successfully applied to the new service. If this happens again, it’s easy to resolve just let me know

Yes , I'd concur with that.

As @bmc says , the static is associated with the account not the product. Whilst there has been some occasional issues with single statics getting 'lost', a simple account component refresh by staff has fixed it.

However, I dont think we've seen the situation for a /29 block. In fact it must be an awful long time since static blocks were even available on residential accounts ?

@Marsh does it make any difference that its a /29 block ?

Re: Static /29 IP block and upgrading to Full Fibre

@MisterW, It should not be an issue as far as I am aware, as it's the component on the account we refresh to fix.

It's the should, not will, that qualifies 'not be an issue' that would bother me.

Re: Static /29 IP block and upgrading to Full Fibre

Just to close this out. My full fibre has been installed and my precious /29 IP block is continuing to work without any issues whatsoever.

Re: Static /29 IP block and upgrading to Full Fibre

Hello, I am experiencing the same issue.

From 2020 to 2025 I lived at one address, and from 2025 to 2026 at another address - in both cases, I was with Plusnet and had a static IP address (same IP all the time).

In 2026 I moved again and stayed with Plusnet. My account manager assured me that my static IP would move with me, but today I discovered that I no longer have a static IP.

I called technical support around midday and was told the issue would be fixed and that I should reboot the ONT terminal and router after 2 hours. I waited 3 hours and rebooted, but I was assigned a new IP address again, and it is still dynamic. It changes every time I reboot the ONT terminal.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Various services outside the UK are tied to my static IP (which had not changed for 6 years), but now I have lost it due to some technical issue on Plusnet’s side. Is it possible to restore my previous static IP address?

My username has not changed.

Thank you in advance.

All is sorted for me now, thank you!
