The letter I received said I can choose to stay with Plusnet, in my account page.
I am 6 months into a 12 month contract.
If I choose one of the "offers and upgrades" contracts for a SOGEA/FTTC connection with no phone, which looks cheaper than my current contract with landline fee (though essentially just few quid cheaper), will I then have an early termination of contract fee for the last 6 months as a result? I never used a phone on it so essentially it's the same service rather than an upgrade.
I don't want a nasty surprise fee.

I feel like it's covered in:
"8. Changing your service
8.1. If you change from one type of broadband service to another you'll need to agree to a new minimum term and pay any applicable set-up charges.
8.2. If you downgrade from our fibre broadband to our standard broadband service or from full fibre to fibre and are still within your minimum term, you'll have to pay early termination charges for ending your agreement with us for your fibre broadband service early.
8.3. You can change from one of our full fibre broadband services to another, or you can change from one of our fibre broadband services to another, or you can change from one of our standard broadband services to another, at any time. We may apply a new minimum term or we might let you carry over any minimum term you've got left on your current agreement. We'll tell you at the time you agree to the change. Charges will be payable for the new service as set out in the Price Guide."
But it still looks grey area'y enough to me that I might get a termination charge.
"You can change at any time" doesn't mean "we can't hit you with charge you for doing so before the end of your minimum term".

If you take either option there will be no cancellation charges.
If you transfer to Plusnet SoGEA you should read the small print regarding the contract end date. I don't know, but as this is s forced move your original contract end date might still be honoured. I understand that it is if you take the EE option..
This is different to you choosing to take an upgrade, as quoted in the standard T's & C''s.

Just out of curiosity, how is it possible now to downgrade "from full fibre to fibre"?
I was idly thinking of this situation myself. I am now on FTTP with an installed, now dead, copper landline but no landline phone number. Technically, as it still goes back to the Openreach cabinet, it could in principle still operate on SOGEA. I was idly wondering could one have FF and SOGEA at the same time (different suppliers)?
When my ONT was installed, I vaguely recall the original installer mentioning something like this.
I think what I mean is could one in principle order SOGEA for a non operational landline? (In a Non FTTP Priority area)

In principle, in a Non FTTP priority area, then yes. However I dont think many ISPs would be willing to offer a SoGEA connection where FTTP is possible.
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

@Baldrick1 What is curious is that on the website, in order to go through with the change to a broadband only FTTC, I have to click a button labelled "Upgrade". Hmmmm.

Ring the Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 and ask for clarification. Let us know how you get on.
If they require you take a new contract against your will I would raise a complaint.
