Re: Refund?

Got the same email. An £85 refund to so many customers would bankrupt Plusnet.

Re: Refund?

The link I gave in Message 13 has a theory - a 3rd party leak/hack.

Agree, it must be a hack/spam.

Question ... How did the scammer get  hold of my e-address? Is that one for Plusnet to investigate?

Peter

Answer.... No they probably obtained from hacking/brute-forcing a site where you have used that email address - nothing to do with PN.

if only...

This just in, to one of my secondary mailboxes:

"We have identified an overpayment of £85.00 on your Plusnet account.

This amount will be credited to your next billing statement.

If you would prefer a refund, please contact us within 14 days."

The scammer has gone to the trouble of dressing it up in fairly convincing Plusnet clothes but didn't do anything clever with the apparent sender, which is a simple @outlook.com address.  That kind of gave the game away 😉

Yes, I have reported it to both [email protected] and [email protected].

Re: if only...

This obvious scam would have been a bit more convincing if it had described the refund as compensation for inconveniences caused by the Plusnet email migration to Greenby.
