Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

Customer service pushing everyone to EE and you have to pay exit fees if end contract early even though it is a forced change by them. EE VoIP very expensive Customer service poor to say the least

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

@Lyndamac Of course CS will 'suggest' you move to EE - that way, BT Group don't lose customers, and you get tied into the BT ecosystem. If, however you move to EE  via CS,  I understand termination fees do not apply.

You can, of course choose your own  alternative ISP and VoIP providers.

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

@Lyndamac Even if you are still in contract, there are no exit fees. When Plusnet switch you over to EE, the remaining time on your contract is also switched over. You will keep the same speed (or better), same phone number, same price.

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

@Lyndamac You can always stay with Plusnet and use another VOIP provider for your 'landline', which is not a 'landline' but a phone system running over the internet. To be clear - from January next year, the technology over which a traditional phone service runs will be switched off, full stop.

If Plusnet had decided to provide a landline facility (digital voice) then you would have been paying much more to Plusnet!

Its not trivial to setup the infrastructure for digital voice (voip) and then there's the training of staff to support it. All provision and support of the traditional landline phone service is down to Openreach, ISPs merely have an administration role.

as @jab1 says , its perfectly possible to use Plusnet broadband and a voip provision from a specialist provider, which is usually much cheaper.

@Lyndamac  "Because Plusnet will not be providing landline I will be paying much more with EE to have both"

I also have a landline with Plusnet. The email I received from them said that the price will remain the same. (highlighted in attachment).

Where have you heard that you will be paying much more?

There is nothing on this page about paying more either...

Move to EE

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

Oh dear. PlusNet told me that I would need to switch to EE to retain my “landline”. When I checked I found that the EE cost was significantly more than I have been paying PlusNet for the past year even before the 31 March £4 increase. It took me very little research to find that I could switch from 74Mbps FTTC to 150Mbps FTTP inc a digital VOIP using my existing analogue phone plugged directly into the new router (I suspect that it is similar port to the one that is blocked on the PN Hub2) for less than I have been paying PN. Who with? Vodafone! I have yet to check out their CS but the switch was very easy from their end with only PN being difficult. And my experience with Greenby’s email service has been dire. Having been with PN for 15 years and had excellent CS for over 14 of those it was a shock to clock the change in the last 6 months. There is no way that Vodafone can be worse and from the experience of other family members I am expecting to return to the service levels that I had previously experienced with PN. Very sad that what had been a steady and good relationship could be destroyed so easily. My first week with Vodafone has been faultless and the change to FTTP very simple. I was offline for just 90 minutes while the fibre terminal box was installed by Openreach.
Oh - and a year ago I bought 2 monthly SIMs for the Vodafone network for our mobiles at £5 each pm to give us sufficient capacity to make all our outgoing phone calls and stopped the then £10pm to PN for anytime unlimited. So - for me, more for the same cost. Bye bye BT and its subsidiaries!

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

Thank you. Yes totally agree. My research is to go with Vodafone. Most annoying is that Plusnet are saying the price will not increase when transferred to Ee but it will significantly. Lots of people do not realise this. EE Inc call package is £18 per month on top of broadband and if you do not have this you have a package with no in calls at 37p min plus £6 pm for the privilege

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

@inspiredron  Sure, there may well be better deals than EE can offer, but when you compared EE with Plusnet, you would have done that as a new customer to EE wouldn't you? Plusnet have said they will transfer you to EE with at least the same package as you currently have for the same price. My package currently includes a landline.

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

@Lyndamac Are you saying that Plusnet are lying in the FAQ & emails they are sending out about the package & price remaining the same? Plusnet say that call packages you currently have with them will be transferred to EE for the same price. So I don't understand where the extra £18 comes from. Perhaps prices will change after the remainder of the contract runs out though.

I wish you a better experience with VF customer services than I had a few years ago when trying to transfer the office connection!.

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

The woman I spoke to at Plusnet said nothing about renewing with EE at a special rate. She was very offhand! My son moved from BT to Vodafone a couple of years ago so I have every confidence in their service. He needs a good service for his work which is totally internet based! I also have my own experience with mobile phones where I bought a £5 pm package for each of me and my wife instead of paying Plusnet £10 pm for outgoing calls only. So we retained landline for incoming landline calls with all outgoing calls on mobiles. That has given us a bonus of UK and EU ++ calls and data for free. No- brainer AND Vodafone router is far better than Hub 2 as far as I can tell so far. Better router, twice the connection speed, significantly cheaper price now, lower price ‘inflation’ increases and a joining bonus which is almost half a year’s DD’s. What’s not to like?

Re: Plusnet change to EE ?

Terrible what has happened to you. Glad you've got sorted out and thanks for making us all aware of what is happening. The forum is the best thing about PN.
