PlusNet offer to switch to EE

On the 6 May 2026 I had a phone call from PlusNet to remind me that my landline phone service would be discontinued and that PlusNet had a special offer to switch my broadband and phone service to EE.

The offer was if I wished to switch to EE full fibre, at present I have FTTC, 74Mbps down and 20Mbps up and VOIP keeping the same telephone number for something like £25.99/month and with £0 termination charges!! I was then informed that Openreach would be installing the ONT on the 13 May 2026. I accepted the offer over the phone,

I immediately that same day received several SMS from EE welcoming me to EE and how I would be paying my bills etc. and from PlusNet which I have copied some of the content below. Two days later I received the EE Smart Plus Hub!

Today I received SMS from EE because Openreach cannot carry out their work because PlusNet has not accepted the leaving offer that they made to me over the phone!

So what on earth is going on????

Content from PlusNet emails;

Hello Robert,

EE have let us know that your phone and broadband services will move to them on 13 May 2026.

You enjoy lots of exclusive benefits today by being with Plusnet. Here's what you'll be missing out on if you decide to leave:

  • Your Static IP (if you have one)
  • Any Plusnet domains you have
  • Plusnet Protect
  • Your Plusnet Webmail account

We're committed to providing you with the best service possible. Please tap Tell me more or call us on 0330 1239 123 to explore what we can do for you, and for more information on what would happen if you switched.

If you'd still like to go ahead, then we hope to see you again soon. Here's what you need to know:

Your outstanding charges

Your contract ends on 18 Nov 2026.

As you're still within the minimum term of your contract, you'll have to pay any remaining contract charges.

If you switch your services on the date shown above your early termination charges would be £ 0.

Re: PlusNet offer to switch to EE

@scopio2

Today I received SMS from EE because Openreach cannot carry out their work because PlusNet has not accepted the leaving offer that they made to me over the phone!

That sounds like 'bovine excrement' ! Its EE that made you the offer to transfer, Plusnet have already confirmed the transfer in the email. It sounds more like Openreach have discovered difficulties in providing Full fibre and want to apply ECCs (Excess construction costs) which EE dont want to cover.

Fix

Not 'bovine excrement' or any other excrement at all, today I phoned PlusNet who confirmed that the PlusNet rep who phoned   me to make the offer did not complete the order and it had several mistakes so, the PlusNet who I spoke to today made a new order and completed it properly hence Openreach has already send me an SMS with an installation date!

Plusnet cant make an order on behalf of EE. The people you spoke to are BT group sales, who work on behalf of both Plusnet , EE and BT retail.

So effectively , the first person you spoke to, who was acting on behalf of EE, failed to place the order properly. It had nothing to do with Plusnet not agreeing to any offer.
