Is it possible to upgrade a copper contract to fibre mid-term?

Our unlimited contract comes up for renewal soon. Openreach are in talks about supplying a fibre connection to our rural property at some unspecified time in the future, but presumably by Jan 27.

If/when fibre arrives, will we be able to move to a fibre contract without financial penalty? Thank you.

(I did try asking the Plusnet AI bot but just got the same boilerplate responses to all my questions, responses that didn't answer the actual question! I'm hoping human interaction will prove more enlightening. 😉)

Fix

@loiswakeman

You can transfer to full fibre at any time during the contract without incurring any penalties. You will simply start a new contract.

The only significance of January 2027 is that this is when the old analogue PSTN telephone service is due to be fully switched off. If full fibre is not available then you will lose the.phone service but your Internet connection will continue using the copper connection to your property
