Given wrong cancellation date

I rang up today to cancel my Plusnet service since I'm switching to Virgin on the 6th. Unfortunately, they chose the day before to cancel my service with them which means I'll be without internet for over a day. Outside of ringing them up and being on hold for another 30+ minutes, is there any way for me to change the cancellation date?
