I will have to change to FTTP, but I want to keep my landline.
Plusnet do not offer VoIP, and I am not keen on moving to EE.
Will PN charge me an early exit fee under these circumstances?
Fixed! Go to the fix.

I am not sure i grasp the logic when BT/EE/Plusnet are all the same company.
If you do not take EE FTTP + Digital Voice, what are your intentions for sustaining the land line ?

@PhilipHeyes Mostly, except for one disastrous incident, I have been happy with the customer service provided by PN.
If PN offered the ability to keep my landline, now via VoIP, I would stay with them.
However, they don't and the only alternative they offer is to move me to EE.
I have not heard great things about EE customer service and would like to move to a different provider.

@bazzer If you move to another company that offers to carry on your "landline" (which WILL be using VOIP) then yes, PlusNet will likely have early termination charges if your contract period is unfinished.
As noted widely if you move to EE there is no charge as it's part of the same business group.

@HPsauce @PhilipHeyes My apologies, I think I've confused matters by using the term "landline" when I actually mean VoIP.
Thank you for your replies.

The critical question is: What kind of a service do you require ?
1) Are you looking for an fully supported Internet & Digital Voice service where all you do is plug your existing analogue telephones into the phone socket on the rear of the ISP's Router. Firms like EE & Virgin Media offer this fully locked down type of service, but equally it is a fully supported type of service with phone support and engineer visits.
2) Would you be happy with an Internet service from say Plusnet and then Porting your landline number to a real SIP / VoIP provider like A&A and buying and configuring a new VoIP Phone or perhaps using an ATA to service your existing telephone equipment.

@bazzer @PhilipHeyes has asked a good question, though you may not know the answer.
I "took the plunge" just over two years ago and moved to VOIP (with A&A) to keep my old landline number as we've had it (with minor exchange code updates) for almost 50 years now and a few people still ring it (re funerals mainly.... 😑). Like you we use mobiles for outgoing calls.
In reality nobody calls the landline any more, except bizarrely very occasionally the NHS, even though they mostly use our mobile numbers! So I'll probably drop it before long, though at less than £2 a month I'm in no hurry. Even the scam calls are slowly dropping off!
With A&A you don't even need to use a handset as incoming calls can just go to voicemail which is then emailed to you. Text messages sent to the number also get converted into audio and use the same mechanism.

I am of an advanced age so I want KISS. Also, I’m looking to lose the conventional phone as soon as I have made sure I’ve not lost someone who does ring me or my wife on the home phone and that my wife is fully comfortable with her mobile. So plugging it into the back of the router is great for the next 2 years. VOIP without the tech 😀
