My SIM Contract is£6.00; your increase is 56p that is 9.6%. Yet you say that the increase is RPI 3.9% which is 23.4p. So your increas is double the RPI. How is that possible???

Below is an extract of the email that Plusnet has sent me:
"From 31st March, as set out in your terms and conditions, we’re increasing the price of your plan in line with the Consumer Price index (CPI) rate of inflation published by the Office for National Statistics in January 2022 plus 3.9%...from 31st March, the price you pay for your current £6.00 plan will increase by £0.56 a month."
Now 3.9% is a monthly increase of 23.4p. However, they charging double 56p which is 9.3%
How is that possible?

The January CPI was 5.5%.
The January CPI plus 3.9% = 9.4%
i.e. It's 5.5 + 3.9 = 9.4
QED

we’re increasing the price of your plan in line with the Consumer Price index (CPI) rate of inflation published by the Office for National Statistics in January 2022 plus 3.9%...from 31st March,
CPI was 5.4% at that time, so 5.4%+3.9% = 9.3%

it would have helped immensely if the email included "CPI was 5.4% at that time, so 5.4%+3.9% = 9.3%" for the sake of transparency. It would have avoided all of this exchange.

Call 500 from your Plusnet mobile then 1 then 3 " You are thinking of leaving " buttons
You will be put through quite quickly this department has experienced staff who have good/better deals I am sure they will sort you a good/better deal for £6
The change over will be from your next billing date

Agreed, but this CPI + 3.9% increase was announced last year sometime -- it was part of my contract renewed in October. Obviously the Jan CPI was not known at that time. Too bad Ofcom didn't put a cap on the inflation figure, goodness knows where it will be next year in the light of current events ...

Of course, all the companies increasing charges by inflation + 3.9% will increase inflation...
