Making calls from France

Hi All.

I arrived in France yesterday and despite data roaming working fine I'm finding various things I've been trying to contact like my broadband which is an 03300 number gives error response in French as does the +3300 alternative. Same for 0800 and alternative. 500 gives 'No routes found' so no answers from there. I have success with UK numbers stored in my contacts but I need to use the 03300 or 0800 as can't find any alternatives. Any suggestions how I can access these?

Best regards.

John

Re: Making calls from France

You will need to dial +44 then omit the first 0 of the number.

Your phone can do that automatically for your saved numbers.

Re: Making calls from France

Perhaps a silly question but do you prepend the numbers with the international code for UK, +44 ?

Oh, @Mustrum beat me to it.

Re: Making calls from France

Yep had done as you described omitting first 0 . My problem seems possibly to have been not holding down the 0 key long enough to get + to turn up. Will try again Monday.

Thanks.

Re: Making calls from France

You should be able to use  0044  instead of  +44  if getting the '+' is a problem

So   0800 123456,   becomes   +44800 123456,  or   0044800 123456

.

Re: Making calls from France

@jm11  if numbers in your phone are working OK, then you could also try saving the number in your phone.

That said many 0800 numbers don't allow access from overseas, nor will 150.. 0330 should work, but they can also be restricted.

Depends on the phone, but on mine I can just hold 0 long enough until i changes to + on the screen.
