I've been charged for sending a text message to a mobile number. Only about 5p, but I wondered why as I'm supposed to have unlimited text messages to mobile phones.

Yep could have gone via an MMS message. It could be something silly like an MMS signature which was embedded it could have gone it to send via data. Just a guess.

Hi richlatham welcome to the Forum
How many characters did the text message have if it's over about 153 it is not included in a standard message
The best thing to do is reduce your Smart Cap to Zero then you will/should have no extra charges

There was no picture.
It was 120-130 chars including spaces.
I replied to a text from my phsyio - their number started 079.

The text you got charged for: Did it start with an 8 shortcode. So 8xxxxx?
That has happened to me, and my mobile network were about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Passing me onto ICTIS, who did the square root of nothing, as they did.
It doesn't appear you should have been charged for texting an 079 number, as you say.
