The prefix is a static /56.

On the Plusnet Hub 2 it just works out of the box. On the none-Plusnet routers I've tested it with if necessary I just needed to ensure the router was configured to use DHCPv6 and then after a PPP reset it picked up the prefix.

@dave looks like it isn't working with my Google Wifi router, so will need to do some more digging to see if it just doesn't work. (still have my Plusnet router so I can swap that back in later to test first)

a quick search for 'google wifi router ipv6 pppoe' suggests that there may be problems with pppoe & ipv6 on that router.

Thanks @dave! all working for me, delegates successfully across 2 subnets using openWRT.

As an observation the ipv6 ping times are quite variable with ipv4 being very steady. Sometimes ipv6 is faster and sometimes upwards of 100ms slower.

Please let us know if you want further specific feedback.

Is the assigned prefix static?

@MisterW https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/6361450 does suggest it should be possible to get it working though. At the moment it feels like a useful data point for Plusnet to check (I guess they should be able to see if I'm even requesting DHCPv6)

@archifishal your link doesnt mention PPPoE. My guess (from my search) is that it doesn't support DHCPv6 over the PPPoE tunnel and that its try to get an IPv6 prefix directly via the physical WAN port

I think I am having the same issue with Sophos FW v22 (used to be sophos XG).

I have messaged Dave privately if he can share my IPv6 allocated delegation, as I have read manually assigning it to the PPPoE port may fix it.

Failing that, Im getting one of my Mikrotik Routers out of the cupboard!

What's the hardware the Sophos FW is running on ? if its the SG or XG kit then it will support Openwrt https://toh.openwrt.org/?view=normal&brand=sophos

pfSense can be installed on nearly all Sophos SG and XG units.

An advantage of pfSense over other open source firewalls is that they recently introduced a replacement for traditional PPPoE handling (designed for dial-up), with 'if_pppoe' that is optimised for modern full fibre speeds, showing greatly improved traffic throughput, lower CPU utilisation, and multi-threaded (where old PPPoE was single threaded).
