@mystreet1

Thanks! I’d forgotten about Duplicator. I did use it years ago to move a blog I’d set up and tested on my home PC with XAMPP to go live at PN.

My first ISP in the early 90s was enterprise.net in the Isle of Man which was the only one to offer local rate dialup at time. A lovely outfit which was taken over and eventually became part of PN.

@MisterW

Better and better!

The MythicBeast wizard returns:

We are having trouble finding accurate data for the domain ‘ccgi.***.plus.com’.

But adds:

Get in touch with us via email and we will give you all the information you need to transfer your hosting.

Which earns them brownie points so far as I’m concerned!

@markhawkin

I don't use it but Mythic Beasts seems to have the ability to host a Wordpress site.

I think you can do this on the (relatively cheap) webspace they sell rather than buying a Wordpress service from them.

It certainly looks that way to me and I’m going to invest in 100Gb of space so that I can dig around. Also thanks for the recommendation.

Yes, I assumed you would use your domain name in the wizard and it would (hopefully?) follow the redirect/forward from the DNS to the PN ccgi space , but maybe that is asking too much of it.

In reality most of the procedure is covered here https://www.mythic-beasts.com/support/hosting/hosted and here https://www.mythic-beasts.com/support/domains/transfer-no-downtime#sec-the-no-downtime-transfer-proc... .

Certainly when I transferred a website for a family member it was pretty simple, ftp everything from the existing host and ftp it to mythic. ISTR that its possible to test the website locally from the Mythic portal before switching DNS to make it live. I cant seem to find the details on the MB site though

Yours is obviously a bit more complicated due to Wordpress

Do let us know who wins - the bees or Openreach?
