Update ancient wiring?

The BT internal wiring in our house is archaic.  There's no 'master' socket where one can isolate all extensions in order to test the exchange line connection.
Can I get BT to modernise the internal wiring?

Unfortunately not.
What we can do, is process you an "internal shift", which is basically a master socket move. Unfortunately, it's not very cheap and I'm not sure if it'd be rational in your circumstance.

Re: Update ancient wiring?

Hi oldcelt, what you need is an external fault (ie not due to any fault/damage internally that might have been caused by the inhabitants), then when an engineer visits, that socket problem should then be rectified by them fitting a new Master socket (for which there would then be no charge).
