More than 50% of the time my landline doesn't work properly. When i pick the handset up I can hear the dialling tone, but when I dial the number the dialling tone just continues like I have just picked up the phone. I don't hear the usual noise that you hear every time you press the numbers and it doesn't change to the ringing tone after I've pressed all the numbers. I don't think the fault is the phone because I also tried 2 others and the same thing happened. Also my phone has 3 settings P, TE and TB - what do they mean? I think it means pulse and tone but i'm not sure what the E and B mean? I currently have the phone on TB, but even it that is wrong I still don't think that's the problem because the other 2 phones are on Tone (which I think is the correct setting?). Does anyone have any ideas why I can't get the ringing tone sometimes?
Hi rena, I would suggest connecting your phone direct into your <a href="http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/master-socket-guide.shtml#whatsTest">test socket</a> without any <a href="http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/microfilters-how-and-why.shtml#what">microfilter</a> and see if there is any difference. Let me know how you get on.
