Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

A lot of it really depends on the nature of the fault. If the issue is thought to be a danger to the public, so perhaps a loose overhead cable - these are dealt with as a higher priority.
An engineer is now working on this fault, we're expecting this to be resolved shortly.

Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

An update on this, an engineer has been investigating this issue and dig work is required to get access to the faulty piece(s) of cabling to resolve the issue.
Our Faults Team will be in touch to advise on the expected resolve time on this. I'm sorry it's not better news.

Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

Thank You
The situation has not improved as expected.
The BT men finally arrived yesterday afternoon and dug two holes down to the cable. At that point I  had no phone but the internet working slowly.
Eventually they said they could not fix the fault - needed new stretch of cable but that they would leave it as it had been so at least I had  internet connection.
They went away saying nothing would be done until at least Monday.
And guess what  !!  - I now don't even have any internet connection and have no phone as before. !
I have had to come to  the nearest town to send this.
Not happy at all. It seems everything revolves around BTOR in the end.
And we as pensioners are stuck here in the middle of no where with no connection with the outside world.
John Robinson.

Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

Hi johnrobinson,
Really sorry for the issues you're experiencing. I've passed this to our Faults managers to ensure that this is chased up for you today. I can only apologise that there's a delay in resolving the issue. If you have a mobile number for our Faults team to keep you updated on please send me a PM with this and I'll ensure it's passed on.

Spotted that, jelv. However, if the OP can provide us with their number then when/if they do travel to places with signal they'd get any updates coming through Smiley

Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

If you could post your router stats we could tell you if there is more speed to come.

Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

Wouldnt know what a router stat is if it hit me in the face ! Sorry.
Not sure about the  inference about OAP,s  going out somewhere to be able to get a signal. We don;t go out ! Not sure about ringing from my mobile in the nearest town with a half hour call wait time either. Suppose I could use the library  computers if I can get to the village.
Cheers

Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

I've got the same problem as of this afternoon, no phone and broadband coming and going. Luckily I'm not in an isolated spot but I am disabled which in itself is isolating for me. Have been told an engineer will be out Monday morning. Oh well, not much choice!

If you are using a Plusnet supplied router http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?ce=1&be=0&l0=1&l1=0 gives the stats.

Re: No Phone and intermittant broadband

Hi John,
Yes these are the right stats.  I'm sad to report that you are not yet "out of the woods".  Your synch speed is low for your line's attenuation and the local error / LoS rate it quite high.
Are you connected to the master socket?
Is there any noise on the line - 17070 option 2.
