Landline keeps switching on/off (not sure if this should be under phones)

Hello Everyone,
Not sure if this is a phone problem or  router or even something else. Over the last couple months, at least twice a day, now becoming more frequent, my landline phone bleeps then the screen goes blank and knocks out my settings i.e. date and time. Phone then starts searching...... comes back and I have to reset it. At first I thought I was knocking it out when I unplugged from charging up laptop. It happened three times today when I was just sat reading a book. Last time was around 7.00 - 7.30. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I assume that the phone is DECT phone and in which case it sounds like the phone  power supply is on the blink and, because it loses the settings the battery is also duff or in need of recharging
Of course it could also be the connection from the phone cradle to the phone

Thanks for the reply, we replaced the batteries about 4 months ago and this phone is connected to the main incoming line. It is a BT phone (forgotten the model). Are you suggesting a new phone? God I hate shopping Angry

Let me suggest a check
Switch off the power to the phone and back on again - is the effect the same
Hang on - I may be missing something
Does the phone have a mains power supply or is it fed only from the telephone line

It has a mains power supply as it has an answerphone and one of those, I think it's called a transformer?

Incredibly unlikely it is the phone line at fault so more than likely a failing phone or phone power supply.

Yes that is one name for it although it is actually (being pedantic) a transformer rectifier
Can you try jiggling the plug, the power supply and the wires between each of them and the phone  and see if it goes beep

Hi silverfinch,
Welcome to the Forums!
It sounds like you may need to replace your phone! Sad I know the feeling as I hate shopping as well!
I've also tested your line from our side to ensure it isn't the issue and there was no fault found.
Maybe Oldjim can suggest something to potentially fix the issue but apart from buying a new phone I'm out of suggestions!

So sorry, I forgot to post an update. I now have an extension lead with four holes and have abandoned the adaptor which was obviously causing the problem. Everything is absolutely hunkey dorey now thanks Cheesy
Regards and lots of thanks,
