My phone wire is jammed in the master socket - how do I get it out?!

I don't have a dial tone on my phone and have realised trephine line is totally jammed in.
I have unscrewed the face plate and still no avail.
I bought a new house phone thinking my phone was broken so not bothered about breaking the telephone wire.
Can someone please help me

Sounds like the plastic release tab has broken off the plug, if you look closely at the right hand side of the plug there is probably what's left of the of the broken tab get a small terminal screwdriver and try to push the tab to the centre of the plug then pull it out,(look at the plug on the new phone and you will see how the tab should look)

Thanks - I've managed to remove the wire!
There seems to be a loose connection on adapter part of socket which is why I have no dialling tone (it works when I plug directly in to the fitting inside the socket). Need to get a new master socket board. Any tips on where to get one?

Or if you need them in a hurry, check out your local B&Q/Homebase/Maplins - ideally go for a proper BT Mark3 faceplate if iits your master socket.
