Re: Imminent end of landline

Just by way of a quick update, I've today placed an order for FTTP Broadband and digital voice with Zen Internet, after ringing them and talking through the options for myself and my mum.

While I was on the phone with them placing the order, the emails to Plusnet were sent and received. My PN contract doesn't end untl 10 May, so there would be an early termination charge from PN before that date. But Zen have arranged for the City Fibre engineer visit to be on 11 May, so hopefully no extra fees will be payable.

Will keep you updated on how things go. Many thanks for the support so far!

You pay for broadband in advance, so your final payment to see the contract out was made on the 10th April. If you leave before the 10th of May all that will happen is that there will be a small reduction in the refund that you are due for the days between when you leave and the contract end date. The Plusnet service does not end on the contract end date, it continues at the more expensive out of contract rate until the change over is complete, which is often not on the promised date due to problems or resource limitations

Note that you will receive another bill for a full month at the out of contract rate. This will be refunded as appropriate when your Plusnet account is closed.

Thanks @Baldrick1 . It's really helpful to know what the next steps will be in that respect.

Thanks for that update.  Zen seem to be on the ball, and hopefully your changeover is trouble free.

Zen do look to be the best package for me at the moment.  Their home phone (voip) product is £7.50 but that includes 1000 minutes which will be plenty for my uses.  EE only seem to do 2 options, PAYG which is something like £2 an hour with set up charges, or all in for £18.
