Re: Dital switch confusion

Check Amazon/ebay - they are available. Make sure any you look at are for that model, though, those sites have a tendency to lump the wrong models into listings.

Re: Dital switch confusion

@jab1  Thank you for the warning, I will check carefully before buying any.

A friend who has full fibre told me to check a website for Phonely? I don't suppose this would work with our copper line?

After seeing some of the replies on here I am wondering if migrating to EE will solve things for us.

Re: Dital switch confusion

This looks to be the right sort of additional handset for £30. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/188178374708?

If you do move to EE, it will be on a part-fibre connection, and your current Panasonic base station will just plug into the EE router. Phonely is only of interest if you stay with PN, and would entail a little more work.

@HPsauce Yes, one of a number I saw.

That's another way to go, to keep your home phone and telephone number, without needing to move from Plusnet.

Given the abysmal figures for this customers connection

With those estimates, voip might be a struggle especially when there's other traffic on the connection

@nuttyknitter ,

I think that BT/EE Digital Voice should work OK on your line.

Twenty or so years ago I had an early version of BT Digital Voice on an ADSL line. I forget the exact figures, but our down-speed was about 2.5Mbps and the up-speed less than 1Mbps. Our exchange is well over a mile from our house and I now know that there was a problem with our line. It wasn't called Digital Voice at the time, but the line worked fine.

@nuttyknitter

The more devices using the internet at the same time reduces the speed available for each device.

I seem to recall that VOIP will work on a 0.5 Mpbs connection. This was related to providing a voice only service.

Re: Dital switch confusion

Last year BT were looking at 0.5Mbs service for those who only had landline.

I would guess thats symetric i.e. 0.5Mbs down and up which doesnt leave much room if low VSDL of 0.8 upload

Another avenue closed to me, this is from a local company who provide wireless broadband.

Further to your website enquiry with regards to us providing a service to your property, I have completed a remote signal survey and unfortunately at this time we cannot provide you with a signal from one of our masts.

Re: Dital switch confusion

@jab1

If I buy exactly the same handsets will they definitely pick up/work with the phone and handset I have already got please?

I have had a good look round at the possibilities and although I am not keen on moving to EE, I think it is all I can cope with.

I used to have an Orange mobile but when it became EE I lost my signal at home, despite being stuck in an 18 month contract. This is why I am hesitant.

Re: Dital switch confusion

@nuttyknitter They certainly should do, but you will in all probability  have to 'pair' them with the base station - instructions should be in your original user guide.

Re: Dital switch confusion

@jab1

Thank you, this is encouraging as I am feeling overwhelmed with it all.

I have been looking for some extra handsets online but all I can see are used and I would prefer to buy brand new. My original phones came from Argos but they don't seem to have additional handsets now. I will have to keep looking.

I suspect that model is no longer in production, @nuttyknitter .

@nuttyknitter @jab1

See this Panasonic website:

Panasonic KX-TGFA30EM Panasonic Store UK

This additional handset supposedly works with all KX-TGF32cseries phones. The webpage also gives access to the manuals etc.

This site lists complete new sets with varying options for the number of handsets.

Panasonic KX-TGF320 Corded and Cordless Home office Telephone Kit with Answerphone and Nuisance Call...

As does this one (including reference to an additional handset):

Panasonic KX-TGF320E Corded & Cordless Phone – liGo.co.uk

The model still seems to be available .
