Can't keep phone number!!!!

I want to switch to Plusnet fibre but I was told by customer services that I could not keep my number... I have researched this and OfCom clearly states that landline number portability is available unless the customer is not moving house to a different area... well this is not the case it's a straight foward switch of contract to a different company...
What is the problem with plusnet and not allowing new customers to keep their numbers, there is plenty of people complaints about the same! If I can't keep my number I won't be joining plusnet!

I had the same thing, though didn't regard it as a problem as I'd no attachment for the old one.  It did come as a surprise though.
