Yes everything that needed changing last time was done by me.

I would be pleased to hear how your transfer goes tomorrow, hopefully it will give me some peace of mind.

@jab1 "EDIT: And what drilling is involved with switching routers?"
There wasn't any drilling done with the residential jobs. They just plugged in the router and explained the digital voice service and phones.
However, I remember a BT Business job for 'digital voice' migration where again they sent two Openreach engineers for no apparent reason. That too was FTTC only, the router previously was connected to a secondary socket on the third floor of a building. They (Openreach) wanted it connected to the master socket on the ground floor (some distance away from where there was a power source). They refused to move the master socket to the top floor, so instead ran a new cable in from outside to a point on the ground floor where there was power.
Fortunately, we already had an Ethernet cable nearby running to that location from the top floor for a card machine - so the existing data cable now works in reverse to get data back to the top floor. What a faff.

Our master socket is in a cupboard, totally unusable.

@nuttyknitter So, the current router is plugged into an extension? The new one goes exactly there.

Yep. I'll let you know how it goes. I already have the new EE router. So tomorrow all that's needed is to swap routers & plug my phone into the back of it. Fingers firmly crossed. 🤞😁

@RadioFox Is your transfer tomorrow an automated one instigated by Plusnet?
It will be interesting to see if it actually happens as there are a lot of others who are being given a date and then nothing happens.

Yep. I let Plusnet do all the arrangements.
I've seen the posts from others about the transfer being cancelled, or just not happening. That's why my fingers are crossed! 🤞

And BT say they haven't got enough staff!
Well that would explain why my local Openreach FTTP rollout has gone from
"building in your area with services delivered before October 2026" this time last year
to "building here in the next 12 months" in early spring 2026
to "we don't have any confirmed plans to build any more in this area" since March 2026
"any more in this area" ? they haven't connected ANYBODY within the exchange area !

To save you some time. If you have wireless devices, it is easier to change the new routers wireless name and password to your existing one, then to go round and reconnect all the devices to the EE routers new wireless name and password.

No surprise there, @ExForce9 - we were originally 'pencilled in' for 'sometime in 2027', then 2028, but as soon as a local altnet, then VM02, then Connect Fibre cabled the area, there was a flurry of unannounced OR activity and our local exchange area suddenly found we could get OR Full Fibre in April 2021.

Ooops, sorry, that date should have read March 2024, not Feb 2021.

The opposite happened in my area.
We were due to get BDUK and/or Council funding for Openreach to install FTTP, as my area is mostly FTTC (with limited cabinet slots) and still a lot of properties on ADSL, with no other prospect of anything faster.
Then an AltNet wired up the area with FTTH to the existing telegraph poles, but the service turned out to be so unreliable that word soon spread and new take-up stalled, also the early adopters hadn't read the small print that the price doubled after the first year (to more than £70 per month), so after the initial month of installs the AltNet rollout halted.
The BDUK/council funding was reviewed about this time last year, and they spotted that my area is now deemed to have access to 1Gb broadband (that nobody wants), so our funding was withdrawn as they couldn't justify Openreach overbuilding where a network already exists.
D'Oh!

Even though that network was totally useless? You have my sympathy.

Well that might explain why the line speeds are so bad, reported here - Digital switch confusion : Message #7
My current SOGEA or the previous ADSL2+ connection won't tolerate an extension of anything longer than about three feet, without causing high SNR margins and a significant speed loss.
Oh well, at least we will know where to start looking if @nuttyknitter's VoIP sounds like a dalek ("Exterminate...") when the broadband is being used for something else.
