From what I've seen this is the same quality jump one gets when switching from HL1 to HL1:Source (Not the HL1:High Def Textures that you get with HL1:BS)

Just made the mistake of thinking it was a patch for the game, not a new install with updated textures. So I just installed HL2 via steam and then started the update, its a new install not a patch. Also has no achievements from the original install game, so save your self a 2gig download and just get the update.
Other than moved or missing secret caches, I am not seeing a single Visual/glitch/bug improvement over the original, get feeling this is just a hype lemming.
