Connect Xbox one

Hi there I am trying to connect my son's Xbox one to the internet. Whilst it is finding our plusnet account it cannot connect and is saying it cannot connect to the DHCP Server.

Our router is not going through a PC. We don't have one just now, we simply plugged it in and connected our phone via WiFi.

Really need to connect the xbox before Christmas. Can anyone help please.

Re: Connect Xbox one

Hi there thanks for the response, it's a wireless connection we are looking to establish.

My sister downloaded some items to it when it was first purchased so I think it may still have her network details on it

Purley based on the grounds that it has wired connection details on it. Maybe these details come up when it gets to connect to our network? I am a complete novice at this..

Re: Connect Xbox one

If you haven't entered the settings for your wifi you'll need to do that:

  • Turn on your Xbox One and go to the Settings menu.
  • Select Network.
  • Select Set Up wireless network, to connect to a new network.
  • Xbox One asks Which one is yours? and displays the wireless networks it detects in your area.
  • Select the network you want to connect to.
  • Press the Enter button on your controller.
  • Xbox One connects to the network you select, using the password you provided.

Then, it checks whether it can connect to the Internet. If all is well, Xbox One informs you that your console is now connected to the Internet.

  • Press Continue to get back to the Network Settings.
  • Press the Home button on your controller.

You are now connected to the new wireless network you have selected.

Re: Connect Xbox one

Sorry I don't have an XBOX (we're a playstation house Smiley ) so I'm just looking around for you.

There's a video here with some steps, first of which is to switch everything off including your router. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwkQ8U5HiRQ

Re: Connect Xbox one

Fix
it's just following those steps to make sure that you've tried it with your wireless network and it's not trying to use your sisters still.
