Re: BF3 getting worse

I'm not really sure why you guys are seeing problems.  There was loads of capacity on PCL-AG03 last night.  We had lots of bronze traffic in there, meaning that there was plenty of room for the titanium and gold traffic.  The wiresharks we see of the traffic show no issues with idenfitication.  The staff gamers aren't reporting problems either 😕

Re: BF3 getting worse

I was connected to pcl-ag03 last night playing BF3 (Xbox 360) and it felt stable enough with no noticeable connection problems or lag spikes.
Having said that though, the game for me has always felt sluggish like the netcode isn't quite right.

Re: BF3 getting worse

I was just on pcl ag06, so I swapped to ptw ag03, then I had a peer terminate which switched me onto ptw ag02. It seems everytime I swap myself onto a gateway, I get peer terminates which then swaps me back to the same one I have just tried swapping from or to a different one, which also kicks me out of the game and loses connection to EA.
So gateways I have tried tonight, PCL ag06, PTW ag03, PTW,ag02 and PCL ag03. All giving me lag, and at one point I was getting killed while facing the enemy and they hadn't even fired at me yet lol. I did think it was getting better for the last couple of months but since Saturday it has been as bad as it has ever been.

Peer terminates?  What do you mean?  Are you being disconnected from the internet completely?

This is what it says in my Router log Kelly, and yes mate, it seems to do the same as if I disconnect my router, it doesn't alter my sync or any settings but It disconnects me from the internet.

I haven't noticed a difference between the gateways, but my experience does vary. From bad to awful. It hasn't been good for as long as I can remember. I can complain about it being particularly bad, but my friends I'm playing with aren't having any trouble with it. The consensus in most forums is when some players with high latency are in the servers this makes it bad for those of us with low latency connections, but reading this forum there are Plusnet customers and staff with the same low latency connections and they have no problems at all. Something isn't right, but it doesn't look like we're going to get an answer.

Re: BF3 getting worse

To be honest Ron, I would love to get a gateway that suits my connection, because at the moment I can't find one  Huh
Heres a quick question for anyone, I have looked in my router settings and my MTU is automatically set at 1492, underneath it says do not adjust your MTU from 1454 unless your ISP says you should. So I am wondering why it is automatically set to 1492. I have just been on the KITZ website and tried the find your MTU setting in the command prompt.
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/MTU2.htm
My lowest setting where I have no packet loss is 1426, so add 28 and I get 1454, which is what my router says it should be, pretty smart hey. So I have changed it to 1454 will this help ?

Re: BF3 getting worse

I've messed around with MTU a number of times. 1492 is correct for me according to your link, and that's what I've been using. I had tried 1458 (my setting on TalkTalk) and not noticed any difference - still jumpy gameplay and insta-deaths. I've tried UPnP, DMZ, port forwarding, nothing seems to make a difference, yet when I was with TalkTalk the game ran great despite a much higher ping and constant drops in my download speed (the reason I left them.)

*headdesk*

We need to sort the disconnects before we stand a chance of sorting the gaming... If the disconnects are because of errors, that could well be it.

Re: BF3 getting worse

So last night I was thinking that maybe the KITZ MTU was showing 1454 as correct because that is what I set it to, so testing anything higher would result in packet loss, so  I set it back to 1492 took off 28 and input 1464 in the command prompt and tested again and it came back with no packet loss so I am also leaving it at 1492.
I don't know how far your records go back Kelly, but I am sure that these disconnects only started happening as frequently since the last engineer before the one that was here on Monday.
I am on PCL ag08 now, it seems very reluctant to put me on a ptn gateway Ron. Roll_eyes
Wo0x, true mate, I only play on a few servers maybe 4 or 5 different ones and I ask if anyone else is struggling and the replies always say that their game is running fine. I tried a different server with a highish ping yesterday to see if I could reap the rewards of this high latency, but I was still getting killed too easilly. It is as though when an enemy sees me, they put a slow motion spell on me so I can't move until they kill me.
I have uninstalled BF3 and am now in the process of a 5 or 6 hour wait until it installs again. If this falls flat and it is still lagging then I am stumped. BF4 is released before my contract ends, so if BF4 plays the same then reading your post Wo0x about it playing good on talk talk and not on PN has me thinking that the only way to go is for me to wait my 5 months out on this contract then ask for my MAC code. As far as I know a company called Thailes won the contract for Fibre in South Yorkshire around 2009, and reading thier web page they have used their own cables, so maybe the way to go is to cut out BT alltogether.

Re: BF3 getting worse

@JamesM,
We might not be able to get any logs prior to the 31st for yourself I'm afraid. FYI I can see that the connection that started at about 9.50 is still going though.
I've just caught up on the latest info re the fault investigation and can see that the work done looks like it may have helped restabilise the line at least, let us know how things went with the re-install on BF3.
