@atom33  Not sure if it’s relevant but if you’ve left BT and were using [email protected]  I believe that whilst you can keep and use the BT email address it won’t work correctly from an email client. It will only work from the BT webmail site – could be wrong ?

I think you are correct, as I understand 'BT email' is now outsourced to Yahoo, who, AFAIK, do not have SMTP facilities.

Plusnet is fibre...I abandoned landlines.
I understand that you think there are two separate issues.
BT and Mailbird suggested that it might be THE issue.
I have a Gmail account that, touch wood, has not been affected.

@atom33 WHAT 'maybe the issue'?

'I abandoned landlines' - so are you saying your router does not plug into your telephone master socket?

Re: Time outs and emails replies

WhIs this a problem encountered only over a school's internet connection ?

When school let's out they all pile on to the internet and the internet slows.....It's nothing to do with a school's internet connection ....

Re: Time outs and emails replies

A quick google search:

While BT previously partnered with Yahoo for a service known as "BT Yahoo Mail", they fully migrated customers away from Yahoo servers and ended the partnership. Today, all BT email accounts operate on BT's own private mail platform (BTMail)

Re: Time outs and emails replies

OK, thanks for that. You are on Full Fibre, in which case I am somewhat confused, as that service is not usually affected by congestion to the extent that the part-fibre one can be.

I'm signing out for today, but will post some more questions/suggestions tomorrow morning.

As I said earlier, I will leave that - unrelated - issue to others.

Re: Time outs and emails replies

@atom33 What speed are you paying for - there are various options?

As you are using a Plusnet Hub2, there is useful (to those can interpret it) information available. Can you attach screen shots from you Hub of the two example in the attachments below (obscuring personal details) and also the file produced when you click the 'export' button on your Technical Log - Event Log page - example also attached?

Re: Time outs and emails replies

I'm working on a relatively new (5 month old) PC, having upgraded from win10.....to win11.....the 'paths' are not working the same....

I'm unable to view your links without having to save them to my pc first....That doesn't seem right....

Whether right or left clicking on my hub or hub properties in the pc directory takes me directly to the Plusnet website where there is no link/access to my hub.....but there's lots of sales pitches....joy fills my soul...not...
Am I missing something?  All the versions of Windows I've known > you go to the directory, access the peripheral and see the status,.....troubleshooting etc...

Make it make sense.....

@atom33

I'm unable to view your links without having to save them to my pc first....That doesn't seem right.

This is expected, your virus checker would scan the files before downloading the to the ./Download folder.

I have included whats required below.

To gain access the the Hub two management console you use link http://192.168.1.254

You may see a warning message about having to use https follow this link for more information

https://www.plus.net/help/hubgui/hub-warning/

The information required is found by navigating from the Home page to

>Advanced settings >Technical log ->Event log. click on Export, this download the log to the ./Download folder

Use the paper clip below the reply window to attach the exported .csv file to a reply.

>Advanced settings >Broadband - knowing the uptime would be helpful.

Re: Time outs and emails replies

Sorry, I haven't used a W6, W10 or W11 machine in anger ever - I moved straight from an 'unsafe' - according to MS - W7 one to Linux, and have almost zero knowledge of those OSes.
