@UnluckyAlf

previously you posted "I came to the Deco mesh via basic TP Link extenders"

Can you confirm the number of Deco mesh units you have and any another Wifi extenders (make and model) you may still be using..

Are you using any WiFi extender devices in addition to the Deco, did you turn off the Hub two WiFi?

Hi,

I’ve searched in red Deco app for PPPoE but can’t see any features in it to manually enter/configure.  Web search doesn’t seem to have anti-aging on this model (X50) or rather the associated pictures don’t reflect the app or physical unit.

Re: Speed Gone from 955MBS to 173MBS in a Few Weeks

Hi,

I haven’t changed anything on the Plusnet router.  Literally just plugged the Deco in via a short ethernet cable.

I still have the TP extenders, there’s a RE330 and a RE505X.  One is in the utility room and the other is in the home office/media room (sounds much grander than it is - it’s a spare bedroom really) and that one provides access for a printer to connect for network/phone printing.  Both these connect to the Deco network.

The Deco X50 has 3 units.  The one directly wired to the Plusnet router, one in the garage/workshop and one in the home office

Re: Speed Gone from 955MBS to 173MBS in a Few Weeks

Have you checked if there are any updates to the Deco App? Make sure it is.

Are the Deco and WiFi extenders using the same network name? Make sure you are connect to Deco WiFi network name.

The instruction to change from DHCP to PPPoE should hopefully be this.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open the Deco App: Ensure your phone is connected to your Deco's Wi-Fi network.

  2. Access More Settings: Tap the More icon (four squares) in the bottom right corner of the dashboard.

  3. Advanced Settings: Tap on Advanced.

  4. Internet Connection Type: * Tap on IPv4.

    • Select Internet Connection Type.

  5. Change to PPPoE:

    • Change the connection type from "Dynamic IP" to PPPoE.

    • Enter the Username and Password provided by your ISP.

    • Leave "Secondary Connection" as None unless your ISP specifically told you otherwise.

  6. Save: Tap Save (or the checkmark) in the top right corner. The Deco will apply the settings and may take a minute to reconnect to the internet.

Take a look at this app TP-Link WiFi Toolkit amongst it tests, it checks signal strength, performs a speedtest .

NOTE the reported speedtest result will be limited by the specification of the device being used, if you have any WiFi 6 devices then you would get a better speed.

Thank you Dan but I can only follow the step by step up to step 3 as there is no Internet Connection Type option.

@UnluckyAlf

My research seems to have given the wrong answer, in the IMG_0082.png shows WAN >

I would look to see if that has the option for change to PPPoE from DHCP, if your not sure take a couple more screen shots

Hi Dan,

Thank you for digging into this further.  The WAN option seems to be to be about the Ethernet ports on the Deco.

Re: Speed Gone from 955MBS to 173MBS in a Few Weeks

I've got some X50's plugged into a HUB2 and can achieve wireless speeds of 816Mbps on my iPhone when near to the device, let me know if I can help with anything Smiley

Re: Speed Gone from 955MBS to 173MBS in a Few Weeks

Hi, well, I’m not sure where to start, as there’s now quite a lot in the thread, but the issue is that the Decos (with one attached by Ethernet to the router, and 2 remote, plus 2 TP link extenders) were inititially getting better than the advertised speed but have dropped off.   Which app are you using to test please?
