Sky Stream

Hi

Sky have said it plus net at fault that my Sky Sport UHD struggles at times.  They have said plus net need to tweak my services to get the Ping down as I am getting around 16- 18 ping which I though be ok?

I don't think plus net have control over ping?

Re: Sky Stream

How does the service struggle?

Is what ever device, connected by ethernet or wireless?

Just confirm are you copper or full fibre?

Re: Sky Stream

A quick search suggests that a ping < 20ms should be fine for Sky UHD

Having said that I reckon 16-18ms is a tad high for an FTTP connection. I am also on 900 and my ping at the router is consistently between 8-10ms at the router, and around 11-12ms at the laptop (wireless).

Which router are you using? I don't know much about the PN router settings as mine is an ASUS

Re: Sky Stream

I doubt there is anything they can do - but I'm always open to suggestion. My thoughts are that SKY haven't a clue.

it can do,

try switching the google's 8.8.8.8 dns servers and then quad9's

See if the issue resolves it self.

From what you have said, that its sky sports, if the service itself gets over saturated and not enough resurces - be it bandwidth or compute power, what you have witnessed can happen.

At this state try dns servers, beyond that hope sky improves the service

I understand that this is a mesh set up. Are you measuring your ping at the master unit or on a satellite? If the latter are you using an Ethernet backhaul or are the mesh units interconnected wirelessly? Is your Sky box connected to the master unit or a slave?

they won't admit to system wide issues if there is one, to a single customer.

Trying a different dns service service may help or make no difference ( i suspect that latter but i'm happy to be proven wrong)

its not wrong, cloudflare can provide a very good dns, they are in a position to do so. As you have been using a different dns provider, try pns, google's, and also quad9s
