Re: Plusnet Full Fibre 300 Speeds?

@kenm

Try this

Windows Key + R enter ncpa.cpl

This will list all network connections, you should see one named WiFi or similar

Right click, select -> Properties -->Configure --->Advanced tab

Look in the drop down for Prefered Band.

How far away from the Hub is this PC? It could be that 2.4GHz is the stronger signal and selecting 5GHz might result in a slower connection..

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre 300 Speeds?

I have been there came in a different way, clicked the 5g band ,no way to save, just ok

abt 12m away no obstacles newish property, timber framed.

Just done a plusnet speed test D 100mbps  U 45mbps

BUT if i put my laptop next to my desktop same speed test it gets D 250 U 46 on 5GHz

go back into desktop internet settings in properties still showing 2.4GHz

This is more than i can sort out     screenshot showing properties at 2.4 GHz

Thanks Kenm

Re: Plusnet Full Fibre 300 Speeds?

Good you followed my instructions to change the "Preferred Band".

But with the HP laptop I have the wireless network adapter on occasions still selects 2.4GHz, you may find the same happening.

I found setting "Roaming Aggressiveness" to '1 Lowest' and "MiMo Power Save Mode"  to 'No SMPS' help prevent this.

These settings are found in same config screen where you set Preferred Band.
