Overhead cable - how will the installation be carried out. Sorry more questions!

The loft needs easy access for the engineer but may still remain an option.

The CBT will look something like this. The number of ports is decided by the number of properties served.

@Spik3y  Just in case --  the outside box (CSP) has to be at ground level.. the engineer has to use a machine to fuse the optical cables together and he can't do that up a ladder.  The overhead fibre cable will need to be brought down the wall to ground level - or you might be able to persuade the engineer it has to be an internal CSP.  We live next door to a grade 2 listed building and our neighbour had an internal CSP for his fibre connection.

Assuming it is a CBT then that's where the fibre will be run from.

I think you're now at the point of waiting until the 19th when you can speak to the engineer about your options. Make sure you ask about an internal CSP due to the sandstone walls.

That sounds like a big ask, ff they take it down, it is also their responsibility to put it back, all without damaging anything.

If this is a serious option and it’s a simple job to remove and replace then I would suggest that it’s removed ready for the installer.

If this installation method is rejected on the day, then that’s the luck of the draw.

We were planning on doing that ourselves, in fact its extremely unlikely OH (other half = long suffering husband 😃 )  would let anyone else to do it.  Its a simple task for us as at times we need access ourselves so know where the screws are.

If its got to come down ground level it will have to go back up again from that point.  If a 10 metre limit (I think someone mentioned) for the connecting cable it wont be long enough for through loft connection.   

Has any body got a picture of an internal CSP in situ to give me an idea of what I'm dealing with?  Do they have to be in a cupboard etc?  I'm not sure an internal ground level one is even a  possibility..

Being pedantic, the CSP does not have to be at ground level, it has to be at floor level, so upstairs or a loft are possible.

That gives a few more options. We are just trying to plan out a few sensible routes in advance that are possible and suit us. 

I've found one 12" of unobstructed wall, where the box could go. Other half has cleared the odd branches away from the pole which needed doing anyway.  We are going to make a clear path to the spot in the loft where the network cables come through.  But thats about as far as we can go until we see  see what the installer can or is willing to do.
