Network Discovery

Hi,

I have just upgraded form FTTC to FTTP, and now have the Plusnet Hub 2 router.

Since upgrading, when looking in Network within File Explorer, I can no longer see any other PC, laptop or NAS on my network. Most of the time, I cannot even see my own PC.

Is this a known issue, or has something changed by changing router ?

Re: Network Discovery

You need to change your network type to private.

Re: Network Discovery

Thanks, Browni.

I've tried that, and can see my PC all the time now, others are appearing slowly.

Forgive my naivity.

Re: Network Discovery

The only thing I can think of is to restart your router.

Re: Network Discovery

When windows connects to a new network it will default to Public, so ALL windows devices on your network will need changing to Private

Re: Network Discovery

Thank you, Dan.

I've just switched on a laptop that hadn't connected to this router before, and it can see all the devices on my network, but it is set to Public, not Private.

Re: Network Discovery

In fact, I've just flipped my PC back to Public, and I can still them all.

Just needed to flip the Network Discovery, as it said each time I changed network type, that Network Discovery was Off, so set to On, and seems to have worked ?

Re: Network Discovery

I thought you couldn't see all devices on your PC?

Changing the network to private should enable network discovery.

Re: Network Discovery

Fix

I flipped from Public to Private, and could see most of my devices - I can't see my printer as I used to.

I then flipped back to Public, and could still see them.

I then re-booted, and had to flip back to Private to see them again.

Thank you all - setting to Private seems to be the answer, except I cannot see my printer any more.
