Currently with Sky but want to leave the broadband contract due to the mid contract price rise i have just been notified about.
We have fiber just installed but it is not connected to our house as yet - so they would need to come and dig the trench and run the cable maybe 6 metres.
If you wanted to leave Sky what would be the procedure - could i just start a new contract with Plusnet and they would advise Sky i am leaving or do i have to advise Sky (I dont want to be billed for terminating the contract with Sky - but can leave in the next 4 weeks under the terms of the contract due to the price increase)
Would I switch to Plusnet broadband and then when the work is done this will become a PlusNet Fiber contract - as I dont want a period with no internet - and I don't know how long it would be till the work could be completed by Openreach etc

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply
SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange
For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
For all SOADSL services,the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.
In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.
If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service
ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.

Yes, that likely means its not going to be a quick install. What does it say against WBC FTTP in the 'Install process' column ?
Its either 1-Stage, 2-Stage or KCI2-Assure.

That's good in a way, in that it means you can order normal broadband.

Given the likelyhood of a delayed FTTP install due to the dig, that's probably the best way forward. Once the transfer of normal broadband (SoGEA) ito Plusnet is complete, you should be able to upgrade to FTTP at any time subject to starting a new contract.
I'd suggest giving sales a call to go through the options.
NB normally you dont tell the losing supplier when transferring but I'd double check in your case as Sky may need to be informed that you are leaving due to the price rise, but make sure they dont try to cancel immediately

Ah! OK , that means that, when an order is placed, Openreach will do a survey first to ascertain exactly what work is required. They'll then plan for that work and then when completed will give a confirmed date for the install.
The survey is supposed to be within 5 days, but then the schedule to complete works can be quite delayed. Once the work is complete , then install should be pretty quick.
Bottom line is, its very unlikely that the whole lot would be completed within the 30 days.
I'm assuming you've already got FTTC with Sky, so transferring to SoGEA (confusingly called Fibre!) with Plusnet should be easily achieved within the 30 days.
Note that Plusnet don't provide a phone service with Fibre or Full Fibre
