Installing full fibre boxes at the side or rear of property?

Hi,

I don't use my phone line and want to upgrade to Full Fibre Broadband, but live in a rented property. My landlord is happy for us to have the upgrade, but says they don't want anything installed at the front of the property.

My understanding is that any boxes or installations typically go at the front of the property. Can the Full Fibre boxes be installed at the side or back of the property? Also, how large are the external boxes typically?

Thank you for your help

@MillyAl06

Are you currently served by an overhead or underground copper feed?

Threre is some leeway as to where the external CSP (Customer Splice Box) and the internal ONT (Optical Network Terminator) go but it not known where until the day of install and you discuss it with the engineer.

Have a look at

The external CSP box is quite small, a grey plastic box about 10 cm by 11 cm and 1 cm deep. There are two black fibre cables entering it, one from the connection to the public network and another to the place on the property wall at which it enters the building where the internal ONT is situated. I understand there are some cases where the CSP has been mounted internally.

@pvmb

I'd forgotten about internal CSP's. Not common but they do happen.

Attached is a picture of one type.

Or potentially just the one wire in - if the ONT is simply through the wall from it.

There might be a cable protection sleeve below the box.
