How do I know when change from FTTC to FTTP is complete?

Re: How do I know when change from FTTC to FTTP is complete?

Looking at this the other way, you have a working full fibre broadband service and want to migrate your landline number from the copper line (which it is still active on) to VoIP.

I would ignore the strange fact that the landline is still live on the copper and start the landline migtration.

It doesn't seem likely that porting the (copper) lindline will impact the full fibre broadband service.

Re: How do I know when change from FTTC to FTTP is complete?

@markhawkin  As something has gone wrong with this FTTP order, in that the existing PSTN service has not been ceased I would be extremely cautious and not proceed with the phone number migration until the line is ceased.

I believe porting the number in the current state could result in the Plusnet Broadband account being cancelled, including the FTTP connection.

@davec13 Have you contacted customer support for any clue as to what has happened, as you already have a working FTTP service the further visit from Openreach makes no sense at all.🤔

Re: How do I know when change from FTTC to FTTP is complete?

As the FTTP was apparently completed and working four weeks ago (!) this would make me nervous. But if the landline number is still working and ringing and making calls on the old copper line, then it certainly feels like the landline number is not in immediate danger of being orphaned and lost to the 30-day limit. It’s still charging its calls somewhere!

Personally, I’d talk to PlusNet tech support right away to get a confirmation that the new broadband-only contract is working as far as PlusNet can see. And maybe see if Friday’s forthcoming Openreach appointment for the OP will finally wrap up loose ends.

But I would agree with you @markhawkin that getting on with migrating the number should not affect anything. Perhaps, at worst, it will cancel a service that PlusNet already thinks it’s closed.

My experience with AAISP was that when I triggered a migration, their supplier still took a few days to complete the move on to A&A’s systems but did it promptly on the date they chose. I think I would push for migration after talking to PlusNet about the current contract.

@RealAleMadrid

You could be right but reactivation of a working FTTP connection SHOULD be reasonably simple.

My greatest concern at this point would be saving the landline number hence the suggestion of starting the port.

Re: How do I know when change from FTTC to FTTP is complete?

I'm with @RealAleMadrid here, the FTTP order clearly hasn't fully completed. As such, the Plusnet account will still be linked to the previous FTTC service. Attempting to port the phone number will very likely close the Plusnet account.

Yes, restarting the FTTP service shouldn't normally take very long , but with it currently in this 'limbo' state , I wouldn't be so sure. In any case it would need a new Plusnet account.
