FTTP questions

Hello,

I'm aware this forum is rife with fttp information already. Apologies for reposting what undoubtedly has been answered before.

Openreach is in the process of installing fttp in our building. I was hoping to ask some questions about the move from fttc to fttp.

1. Postcode checkers obviously only show fttc options right now, is there a way to see what offers we could get once Openreach has finished their work?

2. What work will need to be carried out inside my property? Any chance of repurposing existing cabling?

3. Are there any costs associated with switching, such as installation fees or new equipment?

4. If I switch before my current contract ends, either with plusnet or elsewhere, will I need to pay any early termination fees?

5. What will happen to the existing ADSL once the copper network is retired in January?

Thank you.

Re: FTTP questions

Fix

@Wouter

Have a look at the following.

https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/full-fibre-broadband-installation-checklist#accordion-b43...

1) You would need to look at individual ISP sites to see what offers are currently available. Doesn't mean to say they'll be there when Full Fibre goes live for you.

2) A small Optical Network Terminator (ONT) needs to be installed. This requires a power source within one meter. There is some leeway as to where this goes.

3) If you upgrade with your current ISP then no costs.

4) If you move ISP's then ETC's could be chargeable by your old ISP.

5) ADSL will terminate when PSTN switches off.
