Re: FTTP Fixed IP

Yup, the staic IP is dished out by PN. Oddly. I do have my FIP from PN by logging into PN portal, in another tab on edge entering https://www.plus.net/my.html?action=myconnection will present you with a `hidden` page. On that click static IP and it WILL show your static IP. Copy the IP, type CMD into startbar on windows, type tracrt and pasted IP, press return and it will do a trace route to the IP address entered. mine is <IP address>.notcloud.plus.com, so it is mine. If I type the IP address that the router is getting, it would return <IP address>.dyn.plus.net, which means I`m on a dynamic IP profile not a fixed IP profile. Jeeese, and I don`t work for PN either

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

@notcloud - if you reboot your router you should find you have your static IP back. Let me know if not.

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

Hi @bobpullen - Does this apply to everyone, as I've lost my static IP from the FTTP upgrade and need it back?

Looking at the legacy connection page @notcloud shared, it says I have a dynamic IP, but won't allow me to change to fixed.

Thanks

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

I've had a call from Plusnet support about an hour ago, advising me to turn off the router for 2 mins and back on again.

My static IP is back on my account again!

I did turn off the ONT too, but fairly sure that isn't necessary.

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

@minkey

Yeah it does though we've got to refresh the full fibre component first which I've done now.

If you can reboot your router, you should find you have your static IP back. Smiley

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

@Gandalf - is this something that has to be done on an account-by-account basis? I've rebooted my router and it's still on a dynamic IP address.

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

I've restarted my router twice but still not bringing my static IP back up again so doesn;t seem to be working for everyone.

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

@Teece & @deekayw - give it another go.

At the moment, accounts that were affected are having to be reactively fixed.

New upgrades shouldn't be subject to the issue.

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

@Teece, the credit goes to @bobpullen here for fixing it for you so the reboot applied the static IP Smiley

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

One observation - my average ping is 2ms slower on the static IP to the dynamic one. You can see the before and after averages from my Grafana dashboard. I ping the bbc.co.uk and google.com for 10 pings every minute, and record the min, average and max values. It's gone from 5ms to 7ms average. Any thoughts?

Re: FTTP Fixed IP

@Teece  Plusnet connect through different hardware on their network for users with a Static IP so it could well have different ping times. Is a 2mS difference anything to worry about.🤔
