FF Installation questions

I'm just about to signup to Plusnet which will mean a new Full Fibre install as there is currently only an old copper line to the property.

The property is a bungalow and the current BT / Openreach cable is overhead from a nearby telegraph pole to the stone chimney of the property. Plusnet have said that the new Fibre cable would also be overhead.

Question 1 : Is there any chance that from the chimney the engineer will drill into the loft and route it that way to where we ideally want it (the loft is fully boarded with good wooden steps as access if that matters).

Question 2 : Does the 'outside' part of the ONT need to be outside, or would they consider the inside of say a loft or outhouse (there is power in both) ? Also does it need to be at ground level.

Question 3 : What is / is there a max. length of the Ethernet from the ONT to Hub ?

@Shozer

(1)+(2) are best discussed with the installer on the day - some are more amenable than others, but they all try to work with you.

(3) the max Ethernet run is 100m - more than enough for you, I would have thought.

@Shozer

Where do you want the fibre cable to go after it hits the loft or are you happy with the ONT up there and then an ethernet cable run to the router.

The "outside" box is a Consumer Splice Point (CSP). It is possible you may get it inside the loft, perhaps by the side of the ONT.

Re: FF Installation questions

Fix

Comes down to what the installation guy feels is doable. FWIW like you I have a bungalow with overhead wires and the installer was completely happy to do what you suggest - CSP (or as in my case indoor equivalent) and ONT both side by side in the loft with a (lengthy) Ethernet cable to the router in my study. Just make sure there’s a power point handy for your preferred location.

Re: FF Installation questions

Thank you. Yes 100m is more than enough - I probably need approx. 20m.

Re: FF Installation questions

Thank you - side by side in the loft would be perfect. Good to know it might be an option.
The router would ideally be in an internal hall cupboard (no external walls) - there are already Ethernets dropped from the loft for the CCTV system, so that's the easy part. The hall cupboard is pretty central for all the rooms we need WiFi in, so would be the best option for us.
The ideal would be ONT in the loft with an Ethernet to the cupboard.
