DIGITAL SWITCHOVER CONFUSION

I am an existing Plusnet customer using broadband and out of contract.  My landline is with BT which I realise will need to be given up if I stay with Plusnet.

My queries are the following if I connect to full fibre regarding the switchover:

My tv is connected wirelessly to my router so I get the additional tv programmes, will I still be able to do this if I swap to full fibre?

If I have full fibre, can I take out a new contract before it expires without paying any penalties?

Thank you

Will I need a new router and if so, will I need to pay for a new one?

What more would be required, if anything.

Thank you.

If you can get Full Fibre:

Your TV  will work exactly the same as it does now.

If you are out of contract, there are no penalties due.

Which router do you currently have?

Re: DIGITAL SWITCHOVER CONFUSION

Hi John

Thank you for your answer.

My question about being out of contract is if I take out full fibre and the contract is ending.

I have no idea what router I have it just says Plus net on it.

If you are out of contract, there isn't one to end.

Is the router one with a round light in the centre, or four along the front?

@togorman944

Upgrading your broadband to Plusnet FTTP, will cease your BT telephone service

however if you wanted to continue having a home telephone, you have 30 days from your BT account closing AND your Plusnet FTTP going live, to 'port' your old BT telephone NUMBER to a third party VoIP (digital phone) provider such as A&A VoIP or Voipfone .  You will likely also need an adaptor to allow your existing handsets to be plugged in to your broadband router's LAN socket (instead of the old BT wall socket).

Re: DIGITAL SWITCHOVER CONFUSION

The router has one long button in the middle.

I just want to know how to swap in preparation for the switch to digital and ensure everything works as it does now.

Thanks

Yes I've done that numerous times when I upgraded my speeds.

That is the current Hub2. there is nothing to swap until the FF installation, and then it merely means you substitute the current cable from the master socket with an Ethernet one into the red WAN  socket on the hub.

Ah, if it is the Hub1, then you will receive a Hub2, which will involve a £6.99 P&P charge.
