Connection Issues for Gaming

Hi,

Until about 2 weeks ago I have never had any connections issues. Recently I have begun playing F1 25 on PC. It has been fine for months.

Now though, when I play online, it's as though I have the worst signal imaginable. It even kicks my partner off the TV streaming services like Disney+ and Amazon Prime.

My router is downstairs, and my PC upstairs. Running a cable is not a possibility right now. I have looked into boosters, but I do not believe this is a signal issue, as it has been fine for the last 2 years until now.

I do not believe this is a fault of any sort, more likely to do with some sort of update on the game / PC. But I'd like to rule everything out that I can. Speed wise I believe I get 500mb full fibre, so I can't imagine this is the issue either. I must stress this only occurs when i play the game online.

I was wondering if there are any settings I can change in the Router itself to ensure my PC gets the best signal / priority over other devices? If someone could really spoon feed me that, I'd be grateful. I'm not the most tech savvy anymore.

Hi @Stephenasaurus

Welcome to the community. Smiley

Which router are you using? I'm not aware of any way to change the priority in the Plusnet router, but you can find some basic troubleshooting steps for improving WiFi connection here on our Getting the best WiFi signal strength help page.

We have some brilliant, knowledgeable users here who may be able to offer you some (more technical) advice.
