PPPoE CHAP Fail (0x04) on acc-aln3.wsg (FTTC static IP)

Attempted re-authentication last night due to router reboot and haven't been able to get CHAP authentication since. Tested using the Openreach ECI modem (bridge mode) and HH5A(OpenWrt). Setup was fine prior and previous authentication was performed on Saturday so something may have gone wrong since then.

DSL link is fine, 80/20 sync. BT test logins work and I get allocated a 10.0.0.0/8 IP.

Called and have an engineer visiting tomorrow. Not sure if that will achieve much. Can anyone at PN advise?

tcpdump of the failure:

Have you recently changed the Plusnet member centre password?
The member centre password has to be used as the PPPoE password.

Re: PPPoE CHAP Fail (0x04) on acc-aln3.wsg (FTTC static IP)

Hi @mnhagan01, thanks for getting in touch and I'm sorry to hear you've been having connection issues as for recent.

Checking over your connection from this side it looks like recently the router has been trying to authenticate the connection with the wrong details as @RichardB suggested and I beleive this is behind your loss of connection recently. In which case, I'd recommend follow the steps below on how to log into the router and update the details which should bring the connection back to normal for you.

1) To connect to your Hub One, you will need to open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.254

If you have any issues doing this via Wireless, we recommend trying to do it via Ethernet cable instead.

2) You should come to a page with information about your connection, click 'Settings' at the top and it will ask you to sign in with a Password. This is located on the back of your router under 'Admin Password'

3) Select the option for 'Broadband.'

4) You will see some default options, if not, please press 'Disconnect' on the right and this will allow you to change the Username and Password.

5) For your username, this should be your account username and should be in the following format: username@plusdsl.net
Your password is your account password

6) Press 'Connect' and you should be online.

Let us know how it goes.
